Meet Captain Brian

Captain Latas is the proud owner of Island Bound Adventures, an American Sailing Association (ASA) affiliate, holding the distinguished ASA Affiliate #541. Since 1999, he has been an ASA Certified Instructor, offering instruction across a comprehensive range of courses, including ASA 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 114, 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 214, and 216. His U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential is enhanced by sail and towing endorsements, confirming his capabilities as a professional mariner.

Captain Latas is widely recognized as an accomplished mariner, educator, and leader. Whether navigating the seas or mentoring others on their nautical journeys, he exemplifies integrity, mastery, and a lifelong dedication to excellence.

Whether we take you on a cruise, charter or teach you to sail, your satisfaction and success is what drives us. We hope we can introduce sailing to those that have not tried it, encourage those that have, to learn more from experienced instructors, and take those with experience to the Caribbean Islands, and/or other amazing destinations, to gain the knowledge and confidence to be able to enjoy sailingindependently. All our instructors are certified by the American Sailing Association, and our training can take you through the ASA program, prep you for U.S. Coast Guard License training from beginner to bareboat charter Captain.

For those who want to simply experience being on the water under sail, we offer private charters, sunset sails, engagement cruises, weddings afloat , corporate team building events and Caribbean adventures. We aim to please, and if you have an idea for a sailing event not listed, please get in touch and we will do all we can to accommodate you.
